Oppo has announced many new AI developments at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2025 in Barcelona. The company is adding Google’s Gemini AI to its apps, making it easier for users to access the AI assistant. The company also shares a sneak peek at some of its upcoming AI features. Additionally, the company added the Private Computing Cloud, powered by Google Cloud, to protect user data.
Gemini Integration
Oppo is adding Google’s Gemini AI to its smartphones by integrating with its first-party apps such as Notes, Calendar, and Clock. This will enable users to ask Gemini to create a note, set a calendar event, or schedule an alarm using their voice. This update builds upon Oppo’s current support for Gemini 1.5 Pro and Gemini 1.5 Flash in its AI-powered phones.
Private Computing Cloud
The company is adding the Private Computing Cloud, powered by Google Cloud for security and privacy. Oppo did not delve deeper into how the confidential cloud processing will work. Initially, the tech giant will power AI Recording Summary, AI Search, AI Studio, and AI Call Summary will be processed via PCC. The company is using cloud-based secure computing to make AI features safer while keeping everything running smoothly across its devices.
AI Upgrades
Oppo has introduced a new plan to release at least one AI update every month. Some upcoming updates will include AI Search and integration of Oppo apps with Gemini. These will first be rolled out to the Oppo Find N5
The company also introduced two AI features: AI Call Translator and AI VoiceScribe.
The AI Call Translator will translate phone calls in real-time and help users understand different languages. The second feature, AI VoiceScribe, will provide voice summarization for calls, online meetings, and other audio content.
