Kojima Productions has announced the release date of Death Stranding 2: On the Beach. The game will be released on June 26, 2025, exclusively for PS5. The trailer reveals the details of gameplay, a new character, and new enemies. The trailer is 10 minutes long and was shown at SXSW in Austin, Texas, during a panel with Hideo Kojima, the head of Kojima Productions.
Keeping it mysterious, it features evocative visuals, combat, exploration gameplay, and a mix of new and returning cast members, such as Norman Reedus, Lea Seydoux, George Miller, Elle Fanning, Troy Baker, and more. Luca Marinelli, Italian actor, also joins the cast as Neil. The trailer highlights his character. In the extended scenes, Marinelli’s character looks similar to Solid Snake from Kojima’s Metal Gear Solid series.
The trailer also introduced Magellan Man, a giant winged creature made of tar, similar to BTs from the first game, but with a ship fused to be his head. The game will be available in Standard, Digital Deluxe, and Collector’s editions, which include a Magellan Man statue. It will be available for pre-order starting March 17.
There is a special offer for players who pre-order the Digital Deluxe or Collector’s Edition—they will get early access on June 24, while the rest can play when the game officially releases on June 26.
It is a sequel to the 2019 game Death Stranding, where players had to reconnect fragmented human colonies in a post-apocalyptic US. In Death Stranding 2, players will again play as Sam Porter Bridges (Norman Reedus) as he travels the world with his allies to prevent the planet’s extinction.
