iOS 27 Update in India: Supported iPhones and New Features

iOS 27 has been available since 14 September 2026 for every iPhone from the iPhone 11 onwards, according to Apple. The update brings Siri AI, new Apple Intelligence tools in Photos and Safari, parental controls and speed improvements. Apple followed it with iOS 27.0.1 on 28 September, which fixes bugs.

Which iPhones can install iOS 27?

Apple’s security releases page lists iOS 27 for the iPhone 11 and later. That means the iPhone 11 series, iPhone SE (2nd generation and later), and every newer model, including the iPhone 17 range, iPhone Air and the new iPhone 18 Pro models.

Installing the update is not the same as getting every new feature. The Apple Intelligence and Siri AI features need newer hardware, as the table below shows.

What is Siri AI in iOS 27?

Siri AI is a rebuilt version of Siri. Apple says it understands personal context across messages, emails and photos, can answer questions about what is on the screen, and can pull in current information from the web. It also gets a dedicated Siri app that syncs conversations through iCloud across Apple devices.

On the iPhone, Siri mode in the Camera app lets users ask about what is in front of them, such as nutritional information for a plate of food. Write with Siri can draft or edit text in most places where you can type.

Siri AI is launching as a beta in English. Apple says French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese and Spanish arrive in October. Apple has not listed Indian languages for Siri AI, and its release notes say some features may not be available in all regions. Check Apple’s feature availability page for India before upgrading for Siri alone.

What else is new in iOS 27?

Apple lists changes across several built-in apps. These are the main ones, taken from Apple’s release notes.

• Photos: Spatial Reframing changes the composition of a photo after it is taken, Extend fills in space beyond the edges, and Clean Up can remove larger objects.
• Safari: Organize by Topic groups tabs automatically, Notify Me checks a page for price drops or restocks, and Describe an Extension builds a custom extension from a typed description.
• Shortcuts and Calendar: Describe a Shortcut and Describe an Event create items from plain language.
• Phone: Call Context shows details such as a confirmation code or reservation number when you call certain businesses.
• Design: A new slider in Settings adjusts Liquid Glass from ultra-clear to fully tinted.

Are there new parental controls?

Yes. Apple has redesigned Screen Time and added tools for child accounts. Parents can choose exactly which apps a child can use during setup, require approval for each new website through Ask to Browse, and approve new contacts.

Time Allowances let parents set daily limits across Entertainment, Games and Social Media apps. Schedules control which apps are available at different times of the day. Communication Safety now also intervenes on gore and violent content in shared images and videos.

Is iOS 27 faster?

Apple claims apps launch up to 30 percent faster, new photos load up to 70 percent faster and AirDrop transfers are up to 80 percent faster. These figures come from Apple’s own tests in July and August 2026 on an iPhone 11 Pro Max, iPhone 15 and iPhone 16 Plus, and real results will vary by phone and usage.

Apple also lists Connectivity Assist, which is meant to make switching between Wi-Fi and cellular smoother, and custom EQ for AirPods.

What are the limits of the new AI features?

Apple says features that rely on server-side models, including Siri AI, the intelligent photo editing tools and Image Playground, are subject to daily usage limits. The limits vary by feature, request complexity and system demand. Apple has not published the numbers.

Apple Intelligence also needs to be switched on and the device set to a supported language. Apple lists English among the supported languages. Some features shown in Apple’s announcement, such as paying friends with Apple Cash from Siri mode, are available only in the U.S.

Image Playground images carry metadata that helps identify AI-generated or edited pictures. Apple says support for the SynthID standard will arrive in a software update later this year.

How to update to iOS 27 on your iPhone

1. Back up the iPhone to iCloud or a computer.
2. Connect to Wi-Fi and keep the phone charged or plugged in.
3. Open Settings, then General, then Software Update.
4. Tap the iOS 27 option, then Download and Install.

Apple has not published a download size, so free up several GB of storage before you start. Apple’s support page lists iOS 27.0.1 as the latest version at the time of writing. Its bug fixes cover an unexpected restart on iPhone 18 Pro models when Face ID fails, a colour artifact in some 2x photos on those phones, and an unresponsive touchscreen when Notification Center and Control Center are opened together.

Should you update now or stay on iOS 26?

Apple has kept iOS 26 supported. It released iOS 26.7.1 on the same day as iOS 27.0.1, for the same iPhone 11 and later group. Users who prefer to wait can stay on iOS 26, where Apple has issued iOS 26.7.1 as the latest version.

Apple’s security page lists no published CVE entries for iOS 27.0.1, so the update does not mark a known security emergency. Apple also notes that server-based features such as Siri AI and Image Playground carry daily usage limits, and that expanded access will be offered for a fee in the future. The page does not give prices.
