Google is adding a new feature for its AI-powered video creation tool, Google Vids. The company is adding AI voiceovers to its ‘Help me create.’ The tool will automatically add voiceovers to each scene it creates.
It was first introduced by the company in November 2024. Previously, the tool allowed users to create a video draft using a text prompt and a document from Google Drive, which can be edited. The platform is powered by Gemini AI, but Google hasn’t revealed the exact AI model behind it.
Gemini creates videos using a prompt and content, adding stock media, text, a script, and background music. After this, the user can edit it according to their choice and customize the draft. Now this new feature will automatically generate AI voiceovers for each scene of Vid from the AI-suggested scripts, as per the blog post.
The tool can generate voiceovers based on the prompt, but users can also choose a custom AI voice that best fits their content. Google says the AI voices come in different tones and pitches. This update will eliminate the manual effort of recording ‘the perfect take.’ It will give easy access to users to a variety of voiceovers that provide users with professional-sounding video narration. It will save time matching voiceovers to scenes in the video with automatic audio-to-scene alignment.
To start, users need to open Google Vids and choose an option to create a new video. They will find AI voiceovers as an option. Google Vids and all its features work best on the latest versions of Chrome, Firefox, and Microsoft Edge (Windows only).
New AI Feature Availability
Some features may not work on other browsers. Currently, Vids is available in the user’s local language, but the AI features are only available in English at this time.
The feature is only available for Google Workspace Business, Enterprise, Essentials, and Education accounts. Users with a Gemini Business, Enterprise, Education, or Education Premium add-on can also enjoy this feature.
