Instagram, a social media platform owned by Meta, is working on a new feature that will allow users to reset their recommendations.
As per the blog post of Meta, In just a few taps, users will be able to clear their recommended content across Explore, Reels and Feed and start fresh.
The aim of this feature is to bring new safety features for teenagers. “We want to give teens new ways to shape their Instagram experience, so it can continue to reflect their passions and interests as they evolve,” Meta said in the blog post.
However, it is available for everyone, including teens and adults. “We want to make sure everyone on Instagram – especially teens – has safe, positive, age-appropriate experiences and feels the time they’re spending on Instagram is valuable,” said Meta.
Over time, the recommendations on the user feed will start to personalise again, showing new content based on the content and account users interact with regularly.
When resetting, users will also have the option to review the accounts they’re following and unfollow any that share content they no longer want to see, as per Meta’s blog post.
This new feature will roll out soon to all the users globally. Meta did not provide a specific timeline for when it will be visible to all users.
It is built on the tools that Instagram already offers its users to curate what they see in their recommendations.
