Meta is reportedly working to launch an artificial intelligence (AI) chatbot as a separate app. Currently, Meta AI is available on Facebook, Instagram, Messenger, and WhatsApp, and as a web client. There is no dedicated app for mobile or desktop.
According to the report of CNBC, the tech giant is planning to launch the app in addition to its existing social media platforms. The app is expected to be launched in the second quarter, between April and June.
The company wants to expand its AI assistant’s reach and offer a more personalized experience to compete with big names like OpenAI and Google, as per the reports.
The app is said to come with advanced conversational capabilities, using Meta’s strong AI technology. This is a part of CEO Mark Zuckerberg’s ambition, as he earlier highlighted the company’s commitment to AI and its plans to invest up to $65 billion this year to improve its AI technology.
Meta already serves a big user base by offering Meta AI via its social media apps. However, by offering a standalone app, Meta aims to offer a more focused and improved user experience.
