OnePlus recently rolled out the Android 16 Beta 2 update for the OnePlus 13 to developers and beta testers. After the release of the update, rumours have surfaced that the update includes a new feature that OnePlus didn’t mention. It lets users set a custom battery charging limit, which could help extend the phone’s battery life.
The feature was spotted by an unofficial OnePlus System Apps channel on Telegram. It allows users to set a charging limit anywhere between 80% and 100%. Last year, when OnePlus first introduced the ‘Charging limit’ feature in OxygenOS 15 (based on Android 15), users could only set the battery to stop charging at a fixed 80%.
The spotted feature will allow users to customize the charging limit more. As per the claims, users can choose from five different options: 80%, 85%, 90%, 95%, or 100%, with increments of 5%.
Users can find this feature under the Battery Health tab in Settings. Once turned on, the will automatically stop charging once it reaches the set limit. OnePlus says this helps extend battery life and reduce wear.
Currently, this feature is available only on the OnePlus 13 via the Android 16 Beta 2 update. Other devices haven’t received the update yet. All users can update their smartphones to the beta software, but the company warns users to be careful since it is meant for developers and ‘advanced users.’
There is a risk of device bricking, which can make the device unusable. Some other known issues in the Android 16 Beta 2 update include a blurry camera viewfinder at times, the phone restarting during calls when using Bluetooth headsets, screen freezing, crashing when Ultra-Steady mode is turned on, and delays when locking the phone.
