OpenAI has launched an experimental service to enable wider access to ChatGPT. Now, ChatGPT is accessible via WhatsApp and phone calls. To initiate a conversation with AI over a phone call, users can dial 1-800-CHATGPT (1-800-242-8478) with a US or Canadian number.
The ‘800′ code means the number is toll-free, and callers will not have to bear the cost. People living in supported countries can access ChatGPT by messaging through WhatsApp. Users can save the number to start a conversation via WhatsApp.
Users can make phone calls for up to 15 minutes per month for free, with a daily limit on WhatsApp messages, as per the blog post of the company. However, the company may change the availability and limits in the future.
Users will be notified once they reach the limit. The phone call feature also works on basic phones and does not require a smartphone.
Currently, WhatsApp messaging supports text conversations, and features that require logging into a ChatGPT account, such as ChatGPT search, chatting with images, and personalization features like custom instructions and memory, are not currently available, as per the blog of the company.
