X, formerly known as Twitter, has officially rolled out it’s new ‘blocking feature’.
“We’re starting to launch the block function update”, the X’s Engineering account posted on Sunday.
This new blocking feature will allow the blocked account to see your posts on X if your account is set to public. However, the blocked accounts will not be able to like, reply, or repost your shared content. They will also be unable to send you direct messages, tag you, or add your X account to their lists.
Users will not see the posts from the accounts they have blocked, but they may still see the posts from others they follow that mention the accounts they have blocked. Additionally, they will be able to see posts in which they are mentioned, even if the post includes an account they have blocked.
If your posts are set to ‘protected’, blocked accounts will not be able to see them. Only your flowers can see and react to the post.
The blocked account will not receive a notification about being blocked, but if they visit the profile of the account that blocked them, they will see a notice confirming that are blocked.
On October 16, X announced its plans to change how the block features work. This announcement disappointed many of X’s users. After this, Bluesky received an overwhelmingly positive response on their platform. The Bluesky has reported half a million users joined the platform in 12 hours.
