GTA 5 To Get A Free Upgrade On PC Next Month: Better Graphics, GTA+ Membership & More
Share on WhatsAppShare on Twitter

GTA 5 is getting a free upgrade on PC next month. This will bring better graphics and GTA Online features that were earlier only on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. In addition to this, it also brings access to GTA+ membership for PC players. The upgrade will be available from March 4 for all PC players who own the game.

Rockstar Games shared details about the GTA 5 PC upgrade in a blog post on Thursday. With this upgrade, GTA 5 on PC will receive special ray tracing effects, improving lighting and shadows for a more realistic look. Players who upgrade will also be able to transfer their Story Mode and Online progress from the previous version.

This will also add AI upscaling features such as AMD FSR1, FSR3, and NVIDIA DLSS 3 for better graphics. It also introduces improvements like faster load times on SSDs, DirectStorage support, and better performance at higher resolutions, aspect ratios, and frame rates.

Players who are using the DualSense controller will be able to experience adaptive triggers, while the game features enhanced audio with Dolby Atmos, improving speech, cinematics, and music quality. According to the Rockstar, the upgraded version will require at least 8GB RAM, an Intel Core i7-4770 or AMD FX-9590 processor, and an Nvidia GTX 1630 or AMD RX 6400 GPU with 4GB VRAM.

This free GTA 5 PC upgrade will also add GTA Online features that were only available on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. It includes the latest cars and upgrades at Hao’s Special Works, wildlife encounters in Southern San Andreas, the GTA Online Career Progress feature, a new landing page, and a bigger starting bonus of GTA$4,000,000 for new players. In addition to this, the update also improves GTA Online security with better anti-cheat protection and voice chat moderation to keep the game fair and safe.

It also brings GTA+ membership for players. The subscribers will get benefits like GTA$500,000 every month (delivered after billing), Special Shark Cards with a 15% bonus GTA$, and access to classic Rockstar games in the GTA+ Games Library.

Notably, the older version of GTA 5 on PC will still work for gamers whose hardware doesn’t meet the latest upgrade’s requirements, according to the Rockstar. FiveM mods will also work and later will be added to the upgraded version. But players on the old version won’t be able to play online with those on the upgraded version.
