Apple has launched the new Apple TV 4K (4th generation) at Rs 39,900 in India. Pre-orders opened on 13 October 2026, and Apple lists availability from 13 November.

This is the first Apple TV hardware update in four years. Apple announced it on 13 October alongside a new HomePod mini and the HomeView smart home hub. We covered the full list of coming Apple products in our upcoming Apple launches 2026 report.

What are the specifications of the new Apple TV 4K?

The table below lists the key specifications from Apple’s official spec sheet.

Apple says the A19 gives up to 50% faster CPU and up to 2x faster GPU performance than the previous model. A new dedicated AV1 decoder lets apps stream high-quality video using less bandwidth, which helps on slower home broadband.

How does Siri AI work on Apple TV?

The biggest software change is Siri AI, the new version of Siri built on Apple Intelligence. On the new box, three far-field microphones let you speak to Siri from across the room without picking up the remote. Apple says echo cancellation helps Siri hear you even while a film is playing.

Siri AI can search for shows in a conversational way, show results with poster art from the Apple TV app and answer follow-up questions in a small overlay while you watch. It can also control smart home accessories and scenes by voice.

Some points to note for India:

• Siri AI is available in India at launch in English.
• It is labelled a beta and needs tvOS 27.2.
• It also works on Apple TV 4K (2nd generation) and later, not only the new model. Hands-free use needs the new model’s microphones.
• Personal requests, such as playing a show a friend suggested in Messages, need an Apple Intelligence-enabled iPhone in the home.

Apple says microphone audio is processed in a separate secure area of the chip that tvOS, apps and Apple cannot access. Some server-side Siri features have daily limits, and Apple has said paid access is planned in the future.

What is new in the Siri Remote?

The Siri Remote (4th generation) looks the same as the last one but now works with Find My. You can play a sound on it from your iPhone, and Precision Finding guides you to it with on-screen directions.

• Charges over USB-C
• Precision Finding works with iPhone Duo, iPhone Air and iPhone 17 or later, except iPhone 17e
• Also sold separately and works with Apple TV HD and older Apple TV 4K models

If you are on an older iPhone, check the supported models in our iOS 27 supported iPhones guide.

Home theatre and smart home features

Apple TV can now act as the centre of a four-speaker surround setup. You can pair two HomePod mini 2 or two HomePod (2nd generation) speakers at the front and another matching pair at the back. Apple says the system detects where each speaker is and sets timing and levels on its own.

As a home hub, Apple TV shows doorbell alerts on the TV with two-way talk, runs automations, and processes HomeKit Secure Video locally. Camera descriptions using Apple Intelligence need an eligible iCloud+ plan.

Other features include FaceTime on the TV using an iPhone or iPad as the camera, Apple Fitness+, Apple Arcade games, and new iCloud photo screen savers with a shuffle mode.

Should you buy the new Apple TV 4K?

The new model makes most sense if you want hands-free Siri AI, use HomePod speakers or run a HomeKit smart home. Wi-Fi 7 and the AV1 decoder are useful if your router and apps support them.

The price is the main issue. At Rs 39,900, it costs far more than the previous Apple TV 4K did at launch in India. If your current Apple TV 4K (2nd generation or later) works well, the Siri AI beta will still reach it through tvOS 27.2, without the hands-free microphones.
