Apple is reportedly planning to introduce a wall-mounted display to give tough competition to its competitors in the smart home segment.
As per Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, the display will be able to control home appliances. It will also be able to handle video conferencing and utilize AI in order to navigate apps.
It could be launched as soon as March 2025.
The upcoming product is witnessed as a code name J490. It is said that it will be based on Apple Intelligence, Apple’s new AI platform.
As per the report, it will look like a square iPad and offer a 6-inch screen with thick edges, a built-in camera, a rechargeable battery, and speakers.
Additionally, Apple is planning to integrate Siri into the display system, as per Gurman’s report. Users can also expect a voice control feature powered by Apple Intelligence in the smart home display. It will come in two color options: silver and black.
The report says the high-end version of the device could be priced up to $1,000, depending on the components used, whereas the display-only device would be far less expensive.
Although this product will function as a standalone device, it will require an iPhone for some tasks.
