Google has introduced a new feature in Google Chat with the integration of Gemini to streamline communication by helping users catch up on unread messages.
This new feature introduces AI-powered summaries that condense unread messages into brief bullet points and enable users to quickly review recent activity across all active conversations.
This feature will be available in the home view of Google Chat. Upon navigating to an unread conversation in home, users can use this feature by just clicking the ‘Summarize’ button.
As per the Google Blog post, summaries in the home view are available for any group conversation, space, or thread in home that contain unread messages.

Availability
This is a premium feature that will be available for Google Workspace customers with Gemini Business, Enterprise, Education, Education Premium, AI Meetings, and Messaging add-ons. According to the Google Blog post, the rollout began on October 21, but it may take more than 15 days to become available to all eligible users globally.
How To Enable This Feature

End Users: Users can turn this feature on by turning Smart features & controls in Google products ON/OFF.
