Instagram Reportedly Testing AI-Based Feature To Let Users Create AI Profile Pictures
A developer posted on Threads about discovering a new feature on the Instagram app.
Instagram is reportedly working on an artificial intelligence-based feature that will allow users to create their AI profile picture.
Recently, developer Alessandro Paluzzi posted on Threads about discovering a new feature on the Instagram app.
According to the post, he found an option ‘Create an AI Profile Picture’, while updating his profile picture on Instagram. He shared a screenshot of it on Threads.
It is still under development, so it’s not clear how it will work. However, it is likely to use Meta’s Llama large language models (LLMs).
If this feature goes live, it may work in two ways: users might create an AI image by providing text-based prompts or convert their existing profile pictures into different artistic styles using AI.
This will not be the first AI integration on Instagram. The social media platform already has an AI chatbot known as Meta AI, which allows users to interact with it privately as well as in group chats. Additionally, the platform also offers a tool that helps users rephrase their direct messages and helps them change the tone or wording of their conversations.
Meta has recently announced that they are working on an AI-powered facial recognition technology to help protect people from celeb-bait ads and enable faster account recovery. Scammers often use celebrities’ pictures to bait people into engaging with ads that lead to scam websites.
To deal with this scam, Meta is testing a new way to detect celeb-bait scams. As per the blog post of Meta, this feature uses facial recognition technology to compare faces in the ad to the public figure’s Facebook and Instagram profile pictures. If an ad is identified as a scam, it will be blocked.
