Apple has launched the new iPad mini with an 8.5-inch OLED display and the A20 Pro chip, and its price in India starts at Rs 82,900 for the 128GB Wi-Fi model. Pre-orders open at 10:40 PM IST on 28 October on Apple’s India store, and the tablet is available from 6 November, two days before Diwali.
This is the first iPad mini with an OLED screen. It also gets IP67 water and dust resistance, Wi-Fi 7 and Apple’s C2 modem on the cellular version. The catch is the price: the outgoing 128GB iPad mini was listed at Rs 69,900 on Apple’s India store earlier this month, so the new base model costs Rs 13,000 more.

Apple sells the tablet in Midnight and Starlight. Both colours cost the same. Nano-texture glass is an Rs 12,000 option on the 256GB and 512GB models only.

Display and design
The screen is an 8.5-inch Super Retina XDR OLED panel with a 2316 x 1512 resolution at 326 ppi. Apple lists 600 nits for SDR and full-screen XDR content, 1,200 nits peak for HDR and a minimum of 1 nit for reading in the dark. Apple’s spec sheet does not mention ProMotion or a high refresh rate.
The Wi-Fi model weighs 255g and the cellular model 263g. Thickness is 5.4mm. Touch ID stays in the top button, and there is no Face ID.
A20 Pro chip, cameras and battery
The 128GB and 256GB models get a 5-core CPU, 7-core GPU and 16-core Neural Engine. The 512GB model gets a 6-core CPU and a dual 16-core Neural Engine, which matters if you plan to run heavier on-device AI tasks. Apple has not listed the RAM.

If you own the A17 Pro iPad mini, the OLED panel and IP67 rating are the real upgrades, and the price gap is large.
