Meta has announced upgrades to Meta AI to offer a more personalized experience to users.
In a newsroom post, Meta shared two new ways in which the social media giant is making Meta AI more personalized for users. The company is reportedly working on a memory feature that lets AI remember certain details about users.
This memory can only be saved in individual chats. However, users can either tell the AI what to remember or let it pick up details automatically during conversations.
For example, let’s say you’re hungry for breakfast and ask Meta AI for some ideas. It suggests an omelette or a fancy frittata, and you respond in the chat to let Meta AI know that you’re a vegan. Meta AI can remember that information and use it to inform future recipe recommendations.
It will only save certain things users tell it in 1:1 conversations (not group chats), and users can delete its memories at any time.
Meta is rolling this out on Facebook, Messenger, and WhatsApp for iOS and Android in the US and Canada.

The second feature will make the Meta AI more personalized. The chatbot will collect information about the users to offer personalized recommendations. Meta explained that this information comes from user profiles on Facebook and Instagram, as well as activities like watching Reels, liking posts, commenting, and more.
The company explained the feature by sharing an example: if a user is looking for something fun to do with their family over the weekend and asks Meta AI for suggestions.
Based on the home location listed in the user’s Facebook profile, recent views of reels featuring live performances by various country artists, and its memory that you have a partner and two young kids, Meta AI might suggest tickets to a country music show at a local arena and reservations at a nearby brunch spot.
