Microsoft has shared its artificial intelligence (AI) plans for the fiscal year 2025. Rather than focusing on specific AI products, the company talked about its efforts to invest in AI infrastructure, train people in AI skills, and make the technology more accessible worldwide.
As per the company’s blog post, Microsoft is planning to invest around $80 billion in building AI-powered data centers.
The company will use these centers to train AI models, roll them out globally, and support Microsoft’s cloud-based AI tools. Over half of this investment will be made in the U.S. The company also explains the need for AI skills and claims that AI could create a billion new jobs in the next 25 years in industries like services, manufacturing, transportation, agriculture, and government.
To address this, Microsoft has partnered with the U.S. National AI Consortium for Community Colleges to offer an AI curriculum tailored to industry needs. Additionally, it is creating faculty training through AI Bootcamps so that students can acquire skills that are in demand.
Microsoft has developed AI training programs for teachers and provides career guidance to help young professionals improve their AI skills through its ‘Microsoft Copilot for Career Navigators’ initiative.
