OpenAI has launched Sora, an AI text-to-video generator, as part of the ongoing ‘12 days of OpenAI’ campaign. Sora is an AI tool for creating videos from text prompts.
As per the company, it can generate complex scenes with multiple characters, specific types of motion, and accurate details of the subject and background.
Sora was first introduced in February this year but was only available to a selected group of people. Now, however, it is available to the general public.
According to the company, Sora is not only capable of understanding what the user asks for in the prompt but also how those things exist in the physical world.

Sora allows users to generate videos up to 1080p resolution, up to 20 seconds long. Videos can be generated in widescreen, vertical, or square aspect ratios. It also allows users to add external music files and remixes to craft entirely new content.
The company has developed a new interface to make it more user-friendly. The storyboard tool allows users to specify the inputs for each frame.
The Featured and Recent feeds are continuously updated with creations from the community, providing a steady stream of fresh content. Sora is an addition to ChatGPT Plus, which means it is available for Plus subscribers with no extra charges.
In the Plus model, users can generate up to 50 videos at 480p resolution or fewer videos at 720 each month.
The Pro model promises 10x more usage, higher resolution, and longer durations.
Videos made using Sora include C2PA metadata, which shows they were created with Sora and helps verify their source for transparency.
The company also added visible watermarks by default to ensure safety. The company also created a tool that checks details to confirm, if the content was created using Sora.
ChatGPT Plus has a monthly subscription fee of $20, whereas ChatGPT Pro subscribers pay $200 per month.
