Qualcomm has announced the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset at the Snapdragon Summit 2024 event in Hawaii. This new flagship chipset is powered by the next-generation custom Oryon CPU.
The chip is also equipped with a new Adreno GPU, offering up to 40% improved performance and power savings, along with enhanced ray-tracing capabilities. According to the company, this is their fastest mobile system-on-a-chip to date.
The Qualcomm Hexagon NPU delivers 45% faster performance and enhances power efficiency. It is designed to support large multimodal models (LMMs), large language models (LLMs), and large vision models (LVMs). Additionally, it features an AI-powered camera with real-time AI capabilities for adjusting skin tones.
At the event, Qualcomm confirmed that the Snapdragon 8 Elite chip will be available on smartphones by the end of this year. Brands such as Asus, Honor, iQoo, OnePlus, Oppo, Realme, Samsung, Vivo, Xiaomi, and others are set to launch new smartphones and devices powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite.
