Vivo is all set to enter the mixed reality (XR) market with its new headset in 2025. With this move, Vivo will become a direct competitor of the Apple Vision Pro headset.
As per the report by GSMArena, Vivo’s MR device is expected to be introduced as a prototype in September or October of next year.
As per the post by tipster Digital Chat Station on the Chinese social media platform Weibo, it will come with some similarities to Apple’s Vision Pro, but with features that could be better.
Apple’s device will have been available for more than a year and a half by the time it is released.
It will reportedly go through ‘high-fidelity prototype experiences’ in different cities across China by the end of the year. The launch date is still not clear.
The release of the XR headset will depend on the availability of supporting content, says a report by Innogyan, citing a Vivo executive.
This announcement follows Vivo’s confirmation of the device during the Vivo Imaging Conference in China last July.
At that time, Yu Meng, Vivo’s Vice President of Imaging, revealed that the device is scheduled to launch in 2025.
