Vodafone Idea (Vi) has announced a spam management solution powered by AI and ML to protect users from scams. This is designed to detect and flag potential texts through machine-based automated solutions, ensuring a secure and clutter-free mobile experience for users.
Vi described such messages as a ‘gateway to frauds’ and claimed that spam SMS solution would protect users by identifying and managing unsolicited and potentially dangerous text messages as they arrive on a device.
The system continuously analyzes incoming SMS messages in order to spot potential threats, including fraudulent links, unauthorized promotions, and identity theft. Artificial intelligence (AI) algorithms that have been trained on millions of spam cases will power automated devices that will perform real-time monitoring, as per the company.
By leveraging sophisticated machine learning algorithms, the predictive system learns from incoming data patterns such as phishing links, unusual sender details, and phrases commonly used in spam messages to enhance its detection capabilities over time, according to the company.
Once the message is detected as spam, it will immediately tag it as ‘Suspected Spam’ to alert users and help them make an informed decision about their communications.
The company says that it evolves and adapts to new types of spam as they emerge, ensuring the security of the users. The service is automatic and requires no setup or app installation. Additionally, it’s a free service, so it requires no payment from users.
