OpenAI has announced the launch of the ChatGPT Search Engine feature for all free chatbot users.
During the ‘12 Days of OpenAI’ livestream, OpenAI shared this announcement along with some exciting updates that will enhance the search experience, especially for mobile users.
On ChatGpt a globe icon appears next to the Attach file. Tapping this icon turns on web search mode, making the AI find information directly from the web instead of relying on its pre-existing knowledge. Users can activate it manually, but for relevant queries, it will be activated automatically.
ChatGpt Search can scan multiple websites for a query and gather information to present the response in a simple, easily understandable way. It also displays the sources of information. After each sentence, an icon highlights the specific source and a complete list of sources is provided at the end of the response.
As per the OpenAI, users of ChatGPT Plus, Team, and Pro can also use the Search with Advance Voice mode. This feature will be available next week.

Another exciting feature announced by OpenAI which will enhance the user experience is that it is adding maps to ChatGPT in the mobile apps. This feature will allow users to search and also chat regarding their queries or views on businesses, places they are looking to visit, and local restaurants.
OpenAI introduced the search engine feature in October for paid users.
