Elon Musk-owned X (formerly known as Twitter) has raised the price of its premium subscription globally, including in India. The top-tier subscription, which is X Premium+, has been revised, and now it costs significantly more. The X Premium+ offers advanced features including an ad-free experience, priority rankings, and extended post reach. This marks the biggest price hike since Musk took over the platform in 2022.
Revised Price for Premium+
In the US, the Premium+ subscription jumped from $16 (roughly Rs 1,360) to $22 (Rs 1,900), and the annual subscription now costs $229 (Rs 19,000). Previously the annual price was $168 (roughly Rs 14,000).
In India, the monthly cost of the Premium+ subscription has increased by 35%, rising from Rs 1,300 to Rs 1,750. At the same time, annual subscriptions jumped from Rs 13,600 to Rs 18,300. New subscribers will pay the updated price starting from December 21, 2025. Existing subscribers, whose next billing cycle starts before January 20, 2025, will be charged at their current rate; otherwise, the new rate will begin with their first billing cycle after that date, according to the blog post of X.
Why the Change
The company has listed the reasons for the price hike in the blog post. X Premium+ is now completely ad-free, as per the blog post. Additionally, the Premium+ users will get faster support, early access to new features such as Radar, and higher limits on the latest Grok AI models. X Premium+ also powers the creator program, where earnings are based on the value creators bring to X, not ad impressions.
