Samsung has teased its upcoming extended reality (XR) headset, called ‘Project Moohan,’ again at the Galaxy Unpacked 2025 event. While Samsung didn’t provide details, they confirmed that the headset will run on the Android XR operating system (OS), developed with Google and Qualcomm. The company also hinted that it might be working on smart glasses as another smart wearable device.
The company hinted that the XR headset will support multimodal artificial intelligence (AI) features. The company highlighted how multimodal AI can revolutionize the way we interact with devices like XR headsets. The visual showcased both the XR headset and a pair of smart glasses.
These wearables might come with eye-tracking features like the Apple Vision Pro, which uses LEDs and infrared cameras to shine invisible light patterns onto each eye, letting the wearer select elements just by looking at them. Plus, these might be able to control the XR headset by using hand gestures and voice commands.
Samsung’s ‘Project Moohan’ XR headset was first announced in December. It is said to get multimodal input, advanced displays, and passthrough features. Samsung says it will support Google’s Gemini AI assistant and have apps optimized to work on a large virtual screen.
It will be the first device to run on the new Android XR OS and may get features like Circle to Search with gesture support, web browsing via Google Chrome, immersive views using Google Maps, and live translation of text seen within the wearer’s point of view.
