Apple has rolled out iOS 18.4 Beta 3 update for developers and beta testers. Previous Beta 2 update added Visual Intelligence to the iPhone 15 Pro and other features, but this update does not include any major upgrades. This update is more focused towards fixing bugs and improving security. It also addresses issues found in earlier versions related to Apple Intelligence, notifications, Siri, Wi-Fi Calling, Writing Tools, and more.
It basically fixes three major issues related to Apple Intelligence, the company’s AI features, according to Apple’s changelog. In some cases, Siri needed to be turned on for languages other than US English. Users also faced issues where Apple Intelligence features were unavailable or they were seeing a ‘Downloading support…’ message. Users sometimes need to restart their devices to get them working. This new update fixes these problems.
This update also fixed the issue with Notifications that caused them to flicker or disappear for a moment. There are some issues with Siri as well, some Siri suggestions failed to work properly in languages other than English, but that problem has now been fixed. US Cellular users faced an issue in using Wi-Fi calling on the previous beta, but this update fixes it. It also corrects an error message that appeared when using the Replace option after creating a list, key point, table, or summary with Writing Tools.
However, Apple has added some new features for developers. Apps can use Nearby Interaction in the background to work with Ultra Wideband technology, as per the company.
The company also added new StoreKit APIs, including support for Advanced Commerce API for in-app purchases. This new purchase option API allows developers to choose whether an introductory offer can be redeemed during a purchase.
Along with iOS 18.4 Beta 3, Apple has also released beta updates for other devices, including iPadOS 18.4, visionOS 2.4, macOS Sequoia 15.4, tvOS 18.4, and watchOS 11.4.
