The best laptops under Rs 50,000 in India right now are the Acer Aspire 3 (Core i3-1305U) for most students, the MSI Modern 14 (Ryzen 5 7430U) for faster multitasking, and the HP 255R G10 for office work. Laptop prices have gone up sharply this year because of memory costs, so most models at this budget now ship with 8GB RAM. Pick one with a free RAM slot if you can.
Why Rs 50,000 buys less this year
Memory chip shortages have pushed laptop prices up through 2026. 91mobiles, citing IDC India, reports that prices are already up 10-12 percent, with RAM costs two to three times higher than before. In our checks, most laptops with a Core i5, Core 5 or Ryzen 5 7000 chip and 16GB RAM now sell for Rs 55,000 to Rs 90,000.

1. Acer Aspire 3 A324-53: best for most students
Acer’s own India store lists this 14-inch model at Rs 48,999 with a Core i3-1305U, 8GB DDR4 RAM and a 512GB PCIe Gen4 SSD. The useful part is the two memory slots. Acer says the RAM can go up to 32GB, so adding another 8GB stick later is simple.
- Display: 14-inch Full HD IPS
- Weight: 1.45kg
- Battery: 45.6Wh, rated up to 6.5 hours
- Software: Windows 11 Home, no Office
The Core i3 is fine for documents, browsing, online classes and light photo editing. It will slow down with heavy multitasking on 8GB. The version with MS Office costs Rs 58,999, which is over budget.

2. MSI Modern 14 C7M: fastest processor in this budget
The MSI Modern 14 (C7M-105IN) uses a six-core Ryzen 5 7430U, the quickest chip we found listed under Rs 50,000. It was priced at Rs 49,990 on Flipkart, though the 8GB variant was showing out of stock at times, so check availability before you plan around it.
- Display: 14-inch Full HD, IPS-level panel
- Storage: 512GB NVMe SSD
- Weight: 1.4kg
- Ports: USB-C with charging support, HDMI
- Battery: 39.3Wh
The weak point is the small battery. Expect to carry the charger on long college days. For coding, spreadsheets and many browser tabs, the Ryzen 5 makes a clear difference over the Core i3 and Ryzen 3 machines here.

3. HP 255R G10 (2025): best for office use
This is a business laptop, and it shows in the details. It runs Windows 11 Pro, has an Ethernet port and comes with a one-year onsite warranty. It was listed on Flipkart at Rs 49,901 with a Ryzen 3 7335U, 8GB DDR5 RAM and a 512GB SSD.
- Display: 15.6-inch Full HD, 250 nits, 45 percent NTSC
- RAM: two slots, expandable to 32GB
- Battery: rated up to 6 hours
- Connectivity: Wi-Fi 6, USB-C, HDMI, Ethernet
The screen is dim and colours look washed out, which matters if you work near a window. Office is not included.

4. HP 14 (2026): light and comes with Office
The HP 14 with an AMD Athlon Silver 10 was listed at Rs 45,490 on Flipkart. It has a 14-inch 1920×1200 screen at 300 nits, brighter than most laptops here, and weighs 1.4kg. Office 2024 is included.
The catch is the dual-core processor and 8GB of soldered RAM that cannot be upgraded. It suits school and college students who mainly write assignments, browse and attend video classes. It is not a good choice for coding or editing.
5. Asus Vivobook Go 15 (2026): bigger screen, Office included
The 2026 Vivobook Go 15 (E1504FA) with a quad-core Ryzen 3 30 and 8GB LPDDR5 RAM was listed at Rs 49,990 on Flipkart. It ships with Office Home 2024 and one year of Microsoft 365 Basic.
- Display: 15.6-inch Full HD, 250 nits, anti-glare
- Storage: 256GB NVMe SSD
- Weight: 1.63kg
- Battery: 42Wh
Storage is the problem. 256GB fills up quickly on Windows once updates, apps and downloads pile up. Buy this only if the bundled Office matters to you.

6. Lenovo Chromebook Duet: the low-cost ChromeOS option
At Rs 34,990 on Flipkart, the Chromebook Duet (11M889) is the cheapest pick here and the most portable at 1.1kg. It has an 8-core MediaTek Kompanio 838, 8GB RAM, 128GB eMMC storage and a sharp 10.95-inch 1920×1200 touch screen rated at 400 nits.
It runs ChromeOS, not Windows, so it works best for students who use Google Docs, Classroom and Android apps. The small screen and eMMC storage rule it out for heavier work. Check what the listing includes, since the keyboard setup is not clearly mentioned on it.

How to choose a laptop under Rs 50,000
Check if the RAM can be upgraded
8GB is now standard at this price. Many budget laptops have soldered memory, which means you are stuck with 8GB for the life of the machine. A free slot, like on the Acer Aspire 3 or HP 255R G10, lets you reach 16GB later for a small cost.
Get at least a 512GB SSD
Avoid 256GB and eMMC storage on Windows laptops. They fill up fast and eMMC is much slower.
Look at the screen specs, not just resolution
Most budget screens are 250 nits with 45 percent NTSC colour, which looks dull. 300 nits or more is a plus. Avoid HD (1366×768) and TN panels, which some cheap models still use.
Ignore inflated MRPs
Some listings show MRPs of over Rs 1 lakh for Core i3 laptops to make the discount look big. Compare the actual selling price on Flipkart, Amazon and the brand store, and check the seller and warranty type (onsite or carry-in) before paying.
Laptops just above Rs 50,000
If you can stretch by a few hundred rupees, the Dell 15 Pro (2026) with Ryzen 5 7520U and the Lenovo V15 (2026) with Core i3-1315U were both listed at Rs 50,990 on Flipkart. Prices on these move daily, so they can dip under the budget during sales.
