Google is rolling out a new media player in Google Drive to improve control over playback.
This new update brings a fresh and modernised look with cleaner lines, intuitive controls, and a less cluttered viewing experience, all in line with Google Material Design 3.
New buttons that appear next to the play/pause option allow users to fast-forward or rewind videos by 15-second intervals. It’s now simpler to adjust how fast a video plays and to manage subtitles or captions.
Also, this makes video experiences more consistent across Google’s services, like Google Drive and the upcoming Google Vids video editor to create a smoother experience throughout Workspace.
According to the Google Blog post, the rollout began on October 22 for Rapid Release domains, but it may take more than 15 days to become available to all eligible users globally. Meanwhile, this new update will roll out for Scheduled Release domain accounts on November 18.
It will be available to all Google Workspace customers, Workspace individual subscribers, and users with personal Google accounts.
