Prasar Bharati has launched its OTT platform named ‘Waves’ in Goa at the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) to offer a wide range of content to the audience.
The newly launched application is available for both Android and iOS. The app is marketed as ‘Waves-Family Entertainment Ki Nayi Lehar,’ as reported by ET Brand Equity.
To provide nonstop entertainment and cater to a wide range of audiences, the platform offers around 40 live channels, which include B4U, ABZY, SAB Group, and 9X Media.
For those who consume news daily, the platform offers channels like India Today, News Nation, Republic, ABP News, News24, NDTV India, and more. It will also feature all the channels from Doordarshan and Akashvani, as per the report.
The live channel lineup includes B4U Kadak, B4U Bhojpuri, B4U Music, B4U Movies, Pitaara Movies, PTC Punjabi Gold, Dabangg, 9X Jalwa, 9X Jhakaas, 9X Tashan, ABZY Movies, ABZY Dhakad, Mastii, Maiboli, and USPL.
The channels were selected on the basis of GRPs, reach, and popularity, according to the report.
For movie buffs, the platform offers a diverse selection, featuring films such as Aarakshan, One Day, The Impossible, and Alice Darling. It features TV shows, games, and live events sections as well.
In August, Prasar Bharati introduced a revenue-sharing model, inviting TV channels to join the platform. Under this initiative, participating broadcasters receive 65% of the ad revenue, whereas Prasar Bharati retains the remaining 35%.
