YouTube has announced a YouTube Shopping affiliate program for India. This program aims to empower creators to tag products directly in their YouTube videos and earn when viewers buy anything from the retailer’s website.
Google-owned YouTube has partnered with Flipkart and Myntra to open up their catalogs to uploaders. According to the company, it’s a win-win-win for creators, viewers, and brands alike. This update expands on the previous YouTube Shopping feature, which enabled creators to promote their own products by linking their stores to their YouTube channels.
To qualify for the affiliate program, you must meet the following requirements:
- Your channel must be in the YouTube Partner Programme.
- Your channel must have more than 10,000 subscribers.
Eligible creators can tag their products in shorts, and they can also pin them in their live streams.
Additionally, creators can also tag their products in the videos that are already out on the platform.
The video’s description and ‘Product’ sections provide information about the tagged products to viewers. By clicking on the product, viewers can directly visit the product listing page on Flipkart or Myntra, where they can complete the purchase. In addition to mobile and desktop, viewers will be able to purchase the products through their smart televisions via connected TV.
