Apple is reportedly working on the second generation of its AirTag to launch in mid-2025.
As per the report of Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, the upcoming device, codenamed B589, will debut on the market with significant improvements in range, connectivity, and security.
The new model is said to have a similar design to the current model. The current model has a U1 chip whereas the upcoming model will use a U2 chip with a better range and connectivity, as per the report.
According to the report, the range is likely to improve, offering increased reliability in locating items.
As the current model faced some issues with privacy and was misused by stalkers for stalking, keeping this in mind, this time the next-generation AirTag will come with improved security, making it more difficult for anyone to remove speakers from the tracker, according the Bloomberg’s Gurman.
Next year Apple will also introduce a new smart home display in addition to the next-generation AirTag, according to the reports.
