MediaTek has launched the Dimensity 9400, its fastest mobile chipset yet. Built on TSMC’s advanced 3nm process, this new chip promises better efficiency and performance, with a strong focus on generative AI.
It has an octa-core design, which includes one powerful ARM Cortex-X295 core running at 3.62GHz, three ARM Cortex-X4 cores, and four Cortex-A720 cores. The Cortex-X295 is new, while the other cores were introduced last year at Computex.
According to the reports it boosts performance by 35% in single-core tasks and 28% in multi-core tasks compared with the previous model. The new ARM 12-core Immortalis-G295 GPU provides up to 40% better ray tracing performance for graphics.
The Neural Processing Unit (NPU) has also been upgraded, now it can perform 80% faster for large language model prompts. This enables AI video generation and supports new apps.
Additionally, for foldable smartphones like the Huawei Mate XT Ultimate Edition, the chipset can adapt content for different screen sizes.
The Dimensity 9400 can record videos in 8K at 60 frames per second and supports full-range HDR zoom on compatible devices. It also includes the new 5G modem that can achieve the speed of 7 Gbps and the new 4nm Wi-Fi/Bluetooth chip which consumes less power.
As per the reports, MediaTek mentioned that the first smartphone with the Dimensity 9400 will be available in the fourth quarter of this year.
