Perplexity has introduced the latest Deep Research tool. This can assist users in analyzing complex topics better, and it can also provide detailed reports by reasoning through the topics.
This is available to all the users via the model picker. Additionally, Perplexity introduced an AI assistant for Android devices that includes computer vision and web search capabilities.
As per the blog post, Deep Research excels at creating work artifacts in domains including finance, marketing, and technology, and is equally useful as a personal consultant in areas such as health, product research, and travel planning.
This feature will allow the AI to spend more time on queries, helping it analyze questions in more depth, reconsider its answer, verify information, and explore different possibilities.
It is free for all users. Pro subscribers get unlimited Deep Research queries, while non-subscribers will have access to a limited number of answers per day, as per the blog post.
It is currently available on the web, but it will soon be available on iOS, Android, and Mac. To use this tool, users can go to perplexity.ai and then tap ‘Deep Research’ from the mode selector in the search box before searching their query. According to the company, responses take about three minutes on average.
The Deep Research tool is equipped with search and coding capabilities to perform in-depth research, reviewing documents and refining its approach as it gathers information. After that, it creates a report based on its findings. Users can export the report to PDF or share it as a Perplexity Page.
Deep Research on Perplexity scored a 21.1% accuracy on Humanity’s Last Exam, higher than Gemini Thinking, o3-mini, o1, DeepSeek-R1, and many other leading models, as per the blog post.
