WhatsApp is reported to be testing new interactive features to enhance the user experience.
The instant messaging app is rolling out a new feature that will allow users to add music to their status updates, similar to how music is added to Instagram stories.
This will make the WhatsApp status more interactive and appealing. As per the WABetaInfo report, WhatsApp is rolling out a new ‘Music for Status Updates’ feature.
Earlier it was reported that it was under development, but now it is available for beta testing on Android.
The WhatsApp beta for Android 2.25.2.5 update allows testers to try out the feature and evaluate its functionality before it is released to the public.
The Status update feature will include a new music button in the drawing editor, where users can search for and add songs to their status, as per the report.
WhatsApp is said to have a music library similar to Instagram’s, with a wide range of genres and popular tracks.
Once users select their desired music for their status, they can then choose which part of the track they want to include. For photo-based status, it allows up to 15 seconds of music, whereas, for videos, the length will be the limit for the music.
Users’ contacts will be able to see which song has been used in the status, similar to how it appears on Instagram. Currently, this feature is available for only a few users.
The WhatsApp beta for iOS 25.1.10.73 also includes a similar feature, which means it will soon be available for iPhone users as well.
