Design and build: which is easier to carry?
The Galaxy Z Fold 8 is the more pocket-friendly phone. At 201g and 9.7mm folded, it is 53g lighter and 1.6mm thinner than the iPhone Duo. When folded, it feels closer to a normal phone, and its taller 5.5-inch cover screen is easier to type on.
The iPhone Duo is shorter and wider when folded, with a broader 5.4-inch outer screen. It uses a grade 5 titanium frame and Ceramic Shield 2. At 254g, it is heavier than most large phones on sale today.

Display and crease
Both inner screens measure 7.6 inches with a near-square shape and a 1 to 120Hz refresh rate. The iPhone Duo uses a nano-texture matte finish to reduce reflections, and Apple rates it for up to 3,000 nits peak brightness. The Galaxy Z Fold 8 uses an anti-glare coating instead.
Both companies have reduced the crease in the middle of the screen. Tom’s Guide notes that the Fold 8 crease becomes more visible with long use, while the iPhone Duo crease looks less visible so far. That still needs to be tested over months of daily use.
Durability: IP68 vs IP48
This is one of the clearest differences. The iPhone Duo is rated IP68, so it is protected against both dust and water. The Galaxy Z Fold 8 is rated IP48, which means good water resistance but only limited protection against dust and fine particles.
Dust and sand are a real concern for folding phones because they can get into the hinge and press against the inner screen. On paper, the iPhone Duo is better protected. Both phones are still expensive to repair, and you can see the iPhone Duo’s full list in our iPhone Duo repair cost guide.

Multitasking and apps
The Galaxy Z Fold 8 is more flexible here. It can run up to four app windows, plus floating windows on top. Android apps have had several years to adapt to Samsung’s foldables, so most popular apps already use the large screen well.
The iPhone Duo supports Split View with two apps side by side and saved app pairs. Apps not yet updated for the foldable show black bars on the inner screen. Apple’s own apps and some big names such as Netflix, Zoom and Slack are already optimised. Read our explainer on how iPhone Duo apps work for details.
Cameras
Neither phone has a telephoto lens, so both rely on digital zoom. The Galaxy Z Fold 8 uses 50MP main and ultra wide sensors, while the iPhone Duo uses 48MP for both. Camera quality depends heavily on processing, so a fair verdict needs full reviews of the iPhone Duo.
For video calls, the iPhone Duo has an under-display camera on the inner screen and a 12MP camera on the outer screen. The Fold 8 has a 10MP camera on each screen.
Battery and charging
The batteries are close in size. The Galaxy Z Fold 8 has a 4,800mAh battery and charges at 45W wired. In TechRadar’s testing it lasted 17 hours 44 minutes in web browsing and 20 hours 32 minutes in video playback. Apple claims up to 24 hours of mixed use for the iPhone Duo, which charges at up to 60W wired and supports MagSafe. Independent battery tests for the iPhone Duo are not out yet.
Should you buy the iPhone Duo or Galaxy Z Fold 8?
- Buy the iPhone Duo if you already use an iPhone, Mac or Apple Watch, want IP68 protection, and are fine paying about Rs 1.2 lakh more.
