Instagram is one of the most popular social media platforms, especially among young people.
From posting our precious moments to creating reels and following our favorite celebrities to staying connected with friends, it’s no surprise that we enjoy spending our spare time on Instagram.
However, we may not want all our shared activities to be tracked by everyone. In this article, we’ll explore four ways to keep your Instagram activities private.
Create a ‘Close friends’ list
If you don’t want to share your Instagram activities with everyone in your followers list, then this Instagram feature is quite useful for you. Instagram allows you to create a Close friends list, where you can select specific people to share your stories and posts with.
To create a Close friends list, follow these simple steps.
Go to app settings> Under ‘Who can see your content’, you will get the option ‘Close friends’. Click ‘Close friends’> Add the friends you want to share your content with.
Now, whenever you upload a story or post on Instagram, you’ll have two options: share it with all your followers or just with your close friends.
Hide story and live
Instagram has a feature that allows you to hide your stories from selected people from your followers list.
To do so, follow these steps.
Go to app settings> Under Who can see your content, select Hide Story and Live> Add the people you don’t want to share your content with.
Once you’ve selected people, they will no longer be able to view your stories on Instagram.
Hide Last seen
Like WhatsApp and other social media apps, Instagram also shows the activity status to your followers. But you can easily hide your last seen. The platform allows you to disable the feature, and to do so, follow these easy steps.
Go to app Settings> Under ‘How others can interact with you’, select ‘Messages and story replies’> Click on ‘Show activity status’> Disable the toggle.
Disable read receipts
Whenever you read any message, it alerts the sender that you have seen the text by marking it ‘seen’. If you don’t want this feature, Instagram allows you to disable it. To do so, follow these instructions.
Go to app settings> Under ‘How others can interact with you’, select ‘Messages and story replies’> Click on ‘Show read receipts’> Disable the toggle.
